Ringtons x Project Waterfall: Brewing Better Futures

16 December 2025

We’re proud to announce our new partnership with Project Waterfall – the coffee industry’s charity working to end the global water crisis.

As a company with significant ESG goals, Ringtons are proud to support a charity that delivers tangible, lasting impact where it’s needed most. Partnering with Project Waterfall allows us to align our coffee offering with our broader sustainability commitments – turning something as everyday as a cup of coffee into a force for meaningful change.

Starting with our next shipment, we’ll be donating through our Impact coffee to help bring clean water, sanitation, and education to coffee-growing communities around the world.

Who are Project Waterfall?

696 million people around the world today don’t have access to clean water. The majority live in isolated, rural areas – often the very same regions that grow the coffee we drink every day.

Coffee itself is a water-intensive crop, with a surprisingly large water footprint. It takes up to 840 litres of water to make one 750ml pot of coffee – more than tea, sugar, wheat, or barley. While we enjoy pure, filtered water in every cup, many of the communities at the end of the supply chain face severe water scarcity.

This is where Project Waterfall steps in.

Their mission is to unite the coffee industry and coffee drinkers to give back to coffee-growing communities by investing in sustainable clean water, sanitation, and hygiene projects.

Since 2011, Project Waterfall has raised over £1.7 million and changed more than 80,000 lives across countries including Nicaragua, Tanzania, Rwanda, Vietnam, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia.

Their approach is simple but powerful

  • Reach as many people as possible with clean water, sanitation and hygiene.
  • Increase awareness of the water crisis.
  • Give individuals and businesses further ways to make a tangible difference.

The Benefits of Clean Water:

  1. Improves Health and Sanitation – 1.6 million people die every year from water-related diseases, with children affected the most. Clean water changes this, as does education around good hygiene.
  2. Empowers Women and Children – Every day, women and young girls spend up to 8 hours collecting water that weighs, on average, 20 kilos. This can lead to spinal and pelvic deformities, miscarriages and chronic fatigue, and prevents girls from attending school.
  3. Builds Strong Communities – Safe, clean water and sanitation brings greater access to education, income and ultimately a better life. Communities can grow healthy food and start small businesses, while better toilet facilities increase school attendance.

Why this partnership matters

Our commitment to Project Waterfall allows us to relaunch our Impact coffee with an even clearer purpose: supporting life-changing water projects in the communities that grow our coffee. It’s an opportunity to give back at the source while offering our customers a product that aligns with our sustainability values.

We’ll be sharing more over the coming months as our first Project Waterfall as we continue our work with this fantastic organisation.

In the meantime, every cup of Impact coffee you enjoy helps support life-changing water projects around the world.

This is just the beginning – and we’re excited to make a real difference together.
