We are committed to being a sustainable and ethical global business
From our transparent global supply chains and ethical sourcing to reduced plastic packaging and electrification of our delivery vehicles, Sustainability has always been high on the agenda at Ringtons.
People and planet
Sustainable supply chain
Ringtons is committed to supply chain traceability and giving back to our partners in source countries, through programs like Ethical Tea Partnership, World Coffee Research and Volcafe Way.
Protecting the planet
As a family business, we accept our responsibility to protect the planet for our generations to come. From electric delivery, to green energy, to Scope 3 carbon emission tracking, we’re taking ownership of our role here.
Giving back
Ringtons are proudly founders of initiatives that improve the lives of people across our entire supply chain. Both our Tea Growing Charitable Trust and our Ringtons Community Endowment Fund continue to receive investment.
Carbon Footprint
In June 2022 we were assessed against the Carbon Footprint Standard by a third party and are certified Carbon Neutral for scopes 1 and 2, and scope 3 business travel. These emissions represent a CO2 equivalent of 1,440 tonnes for the latest financial year. This is a 301 tonne reduction from the previous year.
We have chosen to offset these emissions by supporting projects in Kenya and Brazil. We commit to reassessment every year, with a view to including broader scope 3 emissions too. We know that simply offsetting is not the long-term solution. We are committed to our “carbon journey”. We will appraise all recommendations made and aim to reduce our emissions year on year.
Giving Back
We care about the challenges faced at home and around the world and that’s why we work with partners across the globe to do what we can to minimise our environmental impact, source sustainably and champion brilliant projects near and far.
Our Community Charitable Trust
The Ringtons Tea Growing Community Charitable Trust operates by making grants to organisations for charitable purposes for the prevention or relief of poverty and financial hardship of smallholder farmers and workers in tea growing communities, mainly in East Africa.
Sukambizi Solar Lighting Project
The Ringtons Trust has committed £10,000 to fund this project. The project aims to give Malawian smallholders access to solar lighting products. This is achieved by the provision of interest-free loans to fund the upfront costs of solar lighting products. Once loans have been repaid, the funds can be used again to purchase more products for additional smallholders.
World Coffee Research
We donate an extra 1p on each kilogram of coffee we buy to World Coffee Research. Our donation is matched by our importing partners to double the impact.World Coffee Research focusses on agricultural research and development, delving into the risks to coffee due to climate change and working out how to counteract those risks to ensure a brighter future for every actor in the coffee supply chain.
